You got a good thing going, but....

What are your thoughts?

...there's a difference between being "street" and being "ghetto".

The description for this board:

"wut u think bout it? tell us wut u think:

This is what I think -> NO

That alone is just GHETTO....and it's nothing to be proud of; especially since there are no real "ghettos" in The Poconos and Lehigh Valley. I get told about "ghettos" in Allentown and in South Easton, and I laugh.

Unless you grew up in an actual urban area, you have absolutely no clue whatsoever what a ghetto is, and with that being said; the culture itself is nothing to glorify.

Sorry, but I was born & raised in The South Bronx, and where I grew up was a ghetto.
As I grew up, I learned that the objective was to leave the ghetto behind you, not go somethere else and create another one; which seems to be the mindset of the youth today...

Just because HipHop is "street", doesn't mean everyone needs to be in the "ghetto" mentality. The magazines around HipHop culture are mostly written in plain English, so there's no reason why this board can't.

You got a great thing going, and there is nothing wrong with keeping it "street"...

...but do your users to this new forum, and yourselves as well, a valuable service:

Keep it REAL by using proper English.

magazines are written in plain english because they are trying to capture a market segment that wants to understand what hiphop is. Cause if you go to any ghetto, where hiphop is still grime and raw there are very few people that speak plain english. nah mean son?

mainly this is the reason Hiphop fails in the public eye. People read about more than they know about it first hand.
kind of like going to Busch Gardens in Tampa and doing the "safari" as compared to going to Nigeria and doing one. yeah they have lion, and giraffes but ones a canned version of the other.

selling hip hip and the lifestyle, culture clothing and shit is all canned in a magazine. The videos are the new "magazine" just a quicker way to give people the same ideas.

This forum will be like another other forum on the intra web, it will have it's good and bad points. But it doesn't need any "flava" it should be generic and let the threads created give it spice.

Sorry Blackreign, but I have to respectfully disagree with you.

Although magazines are all about marketing, that doesn't justify marketing ghetto life as a canned product in the same way that broken English is used on this site. You might be able to accept that shit, but I don't...

Secondly, you cannot say that very few people in the ghetto speak proper English. In fact, more than half of the people in the ghetto can probably speak better English than you or me.

For you to make such a statement like that is beyond stereotypical.
What the fuck, did you get the pet & feed the "ghetto kids" on your last "safari tour" to the nearest 'hood?

So I'm sorry, but I ain't feeling you on that...because to do that means that I accept that the ghetto mentality is Ok, and it's not.

I'm not sure of what block you came from, nor am I sure that you've ever been to a ghetto. Maybe your trip to "a ghetto" was like a safari tour in Busch Gardens, but to me I lived there. And because I lived it and know what it's like doesn't mean that I agree with how it's portrayed; especially by those who really don't know shit about it...

My point in my original post is that this site doesn't need to use broken English just for the sake of being "street"...because unlike what you believe, many of us who came from the ghetto, regardless of what HipHop or other music we listen to know how to read, write, and speak proper English...

So to the admins of this site:
Thanks, but we don't need the handicap.

Want to keep it real?
Use proper English like you should, because even people from the ghetto can fuckin' read...

There's enough of this BS from other means who believe in bringing us back into the stone age...

In closing, allow me to drop some knowledge to you; from the times when HipHop was really about beats & rhyming skills and not the "bling-bling" phantom bullshit that it is today.

Take the following as advisement when it comes to talking about something that obviously you know nothing about...

"Everything's Gonna Be Alright" - Naughty by Nature

If you ain't ever been to the ghetto
Don't ever come to the ghetto
'Cause you never ain't understand the ghetto
And stay the fuck out of the ghetto

....."nah mean"????
